Welcome to Rooted ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a safe experience while using our application to track your recovery and grow your virtual garden.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Rooted mobile application ("App"). Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the App.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the App depends on the content and materials you use, and includes:

• Personal Data: Personally identifiable information, such as your email address, display name, and profile picture, which you voluntarily provide to us when you register or sign in using Google Sign-In or Sign-In with Apple.
• Recovery and Progress Data: Information you enter to track your recovery, including your sober start date, trackable substances, daily check-in logs, mood records, journal entries, watering streak, plant maturity milestones, and financial savings data.
• Social Connection Data: If you use the partner pairing or community features, we process pairing codes, messages exchanged with your designated partner, and posts or reactions shared on the community garden wall.
• Device Data: Basic device information such as your mobile device ID, model, operating system version, and system locale settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

Having accurate information about you allows us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the App to:

• Create and secure your user account.
• Synchronize your plant growth progress, sobriety logs, and journal entries securely across your devices.
• Facilitate accountability features between you and your paired partner.
• Render personalized biophilic plants that reflect your recovery streak.
• Send push notifications for daily water check-in reminders and partner messages (you can control notifications at any time in device settings).
• Process subscriptions and premium features securely via RevenueCat.
• Analyze usage and app health metrics to diagnose bugs and improve general performance, including crash diagnostics collected via Firebase Crashlytics.

3. Sharing and Disclosure of Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations, primarily to enable the app's functionality:

• Firebase Services: We use Google Firebase for hosting, authentication (Google & Apple Sign-In), database services (Cloud Firestore), and backend logic (Cloud Functions). Your data is securely processed in accordance with Google's safety policies.
• RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and verify purchases. No sensitive payment method info is processed by us directly.
• Firebase Crashlytics & Cloud Messaging: We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash and error diagnostics, and Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications. These help us keep the app stable and send the reminders you opt into.
• PostHog: We use PostHog for privacy-respecting, anonymous product analytics. We send only a small set of aggregate, non-identifying events (for example: a screen was viewed, an onboarding step or a check-in was completed) so we can understand how the app is used and improve it. We do NOT send your journal entries, photos, recovery notes, name, or email to PostHog, and we do not use it to track you across other apps or build advertising profiles.
• AppsFlyer (advertising measurement): When we run ads, we need to know which ad brought someone to Rooted so we stop paying for ads that do not work. AppsFlyer tells us that, and it forwards a small set of events on to the ad networks we advertise with, currently Meta and TikTok. Exactly three events are sent: that an account was created, that a free trial was started, and that a subscription was purchased. Nothing else is sent. We do NOT send your journal entries, your check-ins, your mood, your sober-day count, what you are recovering from, or any other recovery data, and there is no technical path for that data to reach an ad network. On iOS this measurement runs only if you allow it when the system asks; declining costs you nothing in the app. On Android it uses your device's advertising ID, which you can reset or opt out of in your Android settings at any time.
• With Paired Partners: If you explicitly pair with a partner, they will be able to see your active plant species, growth progress, streak, and daily check-in status to support your journey. You can disconnect from your partner at any time.

4. Data Retention and Security

We use industry-standard security measures to safeguard your personal data. Your recovery and journal data are stored securely in Google Firebase and Firestore. We retain your information as long as your account remains active. You can request the permanent deletion of your account and all associated data at any time directly through the app settings screen.

5. Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data without parental consent, please contact us at the support email listed below.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy and publishing the new policy within the App.
